Blue Mountains
می رود.

قیمت های مسکن در این منطقه نسبت به سیدنی و سایر محله  های سیدنی پایین تر می باشد.

مردم سیدنی مردم این منطقه را غربی
 Westy

Why Iranians are different in lots of ways

My family and I went to a Persian Restaurant in Sydney yesterday.

The food was really great but this shop like many other shops and businesses in Australia did not have an EFTPOS machine (It's the name of the machine enabling you to pay via your card in Australia).

Now the question is, out of all the companies operating in Australia, why only Iranians have to lack this facility?

Well obviously I haven't been to all the shops in Australia but I have been to many in different areas and every one of them has got the EFTPOS facility.

I have to raise the question again, do we really have to be different to others in everything  we do? Can't we commit ourselves to do business the same way every other business does?

Every time we have to go to a Persian shop specially some Persian restaurants, we have to go to an ATM machine and get some cash. It' so frustrating and unprofessional.

I hope Iranian business owners come to the decision to make sure they have an EFTPOS machine when they open a new business.

Believe it or not, even the Iranian Embassy in Canberra cannot process EFTPOS transactions. Don't know why, so don't ask please.

Another point about Iranian Persian restaurants is that by law in Australia, any restaurant should give you water free of charge. It doesn't have to be bottled water but they have to give you tap water if you ask.

And once again, Persian restaurants in Sydney simply do not bother to give you free water and even worse is the fact that they give you that dirty so-if-you-don't-have-money-to-buy-water-go-somewhere-else look if you ask for tap water in a glass jar. THAT SUCKS man.
If you need to try some Persian food, you can still try Persian restaurants but make sure you carry enough cash with you.

What do you do when you miss Iran?

There are circumstances in which we all miss our home country no matter what the main reason was behind our migration.

We could be out of Iran due to social, political or even personal reasons, but we could miss it for no specific reason. I don't know but it sometimes occured to me it was something hormonal (I didn't say that , did I?). I mean, for instance, I could be driving 8 o'clock in the morning on the road and just miss having a sandwich in a sandwich shop in Tehran, or simply miss being on holiday in Iran.

This might happen a lot more when you have just arrived to the new country and you have sort of settled down.

Sometimes you might get a burst of feeling for no specific reason; you might miss a busy place in your city or just miss a person who had a grocery shop round the corner to your house or simply food.

I sometimes wanted to do everything I could to be in Enghelab square in Tehran, go to one of those sandwich shops and order a sandwich.

When this happened to me, and if a computer was closeby, I would jump on Google and watch pictures of different areas of Iran or basically google the name of the street and see what it looked like.

What do you do when you miss home?

Iranian or Persian? Which one are you?

Which one are you?

What do you say when someone asks you "where are you from" ?

Do you do your best to say you are from Iran just to stop embarrassing yourself in front of the educated foreigners or do you prevent them mistaking you with Iraqi people and just say I am Persian?

Which one gives you more prestige? Iranian or Persian?

Which one leaves negative impression on the listener? Persian or Iranian?

Well you certainly go to a Persian restaurant and eat Persian food, ha? Or you just go to Iranian Restaurant and have Iranian food?

It definitely is Persian Carpet and Persian cat but I am not sure about Persian Music (specifically the pop one).

What do you think? How do you react? When do you use Persian and when do you use Iranian?

Bad News for Iranian Immigrants to Australia

I was listening to the radio today when I heard that the Australian government has announced new rules for Iranians who illegally come to Australia on boat.

The new rules say that Iranians' asylum requests will not be considered as urgent and that they will be sent to Papua New Guinea for processing.

 Photo from Wikipedia

The idea is very simple. They believe majority of Iranians who come to australia, which is almost a third of all immigrants who come by boat from Indonesia, belong to the middle class and are not in a hardship situation as of some one from war torn or famine-struck countries. They are simply after a better lifestyle.

The interesting part was that they even broadcasted the same news in Persian (Farsi) to make sure those who do not know English undertand the gist of the matter.

The anchor was implying Iranians who have relatives who are thinking of coming to Australia by boat should encourage them not to because these Iranians will not receive Australian citizenship.

However, this does not mean that those who are in ethnic groups in Iran and are actually under the pressure from the government will not be welcomed but it implies that they have to go through a much longer process to enter Australia.

 Photo is courtesy of smh

So if you are planninng to come to Australia by boat or know somebody who has planned to do so, you'd better reconsidered your plan or somehow transfered the message accross.

I hope we Iranians don't have to leave our country ever because our land is beautiful and we desrve a much better life in Iran.

Are Iranians in Indonesia losing their face

Just look at the news from Indonesia by clicking here.

There are two parts in this artcile.

First, the Indoneian government is  going to stop issuing visas to Iranians upon their arrival because they are using Indonesia to illegally enter into Australia via boat. I understand Indonesian governments decision and respect it.

What bothers me is the second part that alleges that Iranians are the first drug smugglers into Indonesia.

If this is true, it's going to be a very sad story for our nation.

What do you think?

Iranians' Immigration to Australia has more than doubled

Please click here to read more.

Well I think the Australian Government is reconsidering Iranian asylum seeking request because for them, Iranians who come to Australia by boat are from the middle class and are not really in danger in Iran.

Iranians who come to Australia might be mainly looking for a better lifestyle rather than scaping from danger unless they belong to an Ethnic group or religion not welcomed by the Iranian government.

What do you think?

Should Iranians say hello when they see each other?

Maybe one of the reasons pushing you to get out of Iran was the society.

But what would you do if you see a fellow Iranian in a supermarket? Would you warmly say hello or try to walk away without showing that you are Iranian?
